Overcoming the Top 3 Fitness Struggles: Finding Humor on your way to success


If you know me, I love to laugh in life. I will always make an inappropriate joke at the worst time...for shits and giggles. Of course, my approach to fitness and wellness is no different.


Getting fit—it's the ultimate goal for many of us, right up there with mastering how to fold a fitted sheet. I'm a massage therapist! I still cant fold a fitted sheet!😤 But let's be real: despite our best intentions, the road to fitness and well-being is often paved with potholes, detours, and the occasional wrong turn (hello, cheese enchiladas from Benny's). There are 3 fitness struggles that I hear on repeat. Let's dive into them and find some Muthah Fluffin' humor in the chaos.


1. The 100 YEAR Battle: Being Fit vs. the Couch

Ahhhhhhhh, the eternal struggle between wanting to be fit and wanting to binge-watch that Sci-Fi show you have seen probably 10 times by now(oh wait thats me😆). Then you're surrounded by a sea of snacks or a sea of cats in my case. We've all been there, eyeing our running shoes from the comfort of our couch, thinking, "I'll start tomorrow... or next Monday... or next month on the 1st!" This is actually a running joke of me and my husband...we always say "We will do that tomorrow" and then it just never happens!


#### overcoming NO Motivation:

Struggling to stay motivated and committed to a fitness routine.

- Netflix and Sweat: Turn your binge-watching sessions into workout opportunities by doing squats, lunges, or push-ups during the opening credits of your favorite show. And then you could do a few yoga poses during the ending credits to get your recovery. Sounds silly...but helllooo we are putting humor into this struggle bruh!

- Snack Attack Strategy: Create a snack menu with healthier options, but don't forget to include a little indulgence. After all, life's too short not to enjoy a few potato chips while pondering the meaning of existence.


2. The Dreaded Plateau

You've been hitting the gym religiously, watching what you eat, and feeling pretty darn good about your progress. But suddenly, it's like your body hits the brakes, and no matter what you do, those last few pounds refuse to budge. It's like your metabolism decided to take a vacation to Margaritaville without you. THE NERVE!


#### overcoming Plateauing in fitness:

Stagnating progress despite consistent efforts.

- Embrace the Stall: Think of it as your body's way of saying, "Hang on, I'm recalibrating." Take this opportunity to mix things up—try a new workout, experiment, or even take a break and enjoy a guilt-free cheat day (or two... or three😈).

- Plateau Party: Invite your fitness buddies over for a "Plateau Party" where you celebrate your lack of progress with ridiculous themed snacks and a playlist of songs that perfectly capture the frustration of not seeing results. Don't knock it til you try it!🤨

- Laugh It Out: Remember, the scale doesn't define your worth, and neither does the number of likes on your fitness Instagram posts. Laugh off the plateau and focus on how far you've come, not just how far you have to go.


3. Time, Time, Wherefore Art Thou, Time?

Between work, family, social obligations, and the occasional nap (hey, self-care is important), finding time to squeeze in a workout can feel like trying to find Waldo in a sea of striped shirts—nearly impossible, but not really.


#### Overcoming Time constraints:

Finding the time to fit exercise into a busy schedule.

- Time Warp Workout: Who says workouts have to be an hour long? Break a sweat with quick, high-intensity workouts that you can squeeze into your busiest days. Just think of it as speed dating, but with burpees. Try doing 30 minutes or 45 minutes and wha-la! you worked out!

- Multitasking Mastery: Combine fitness with other activities whenever possible. Need to catch up on emails? As you are going through your emails do some air squats. Easy Peasy. Want to spend time with the kids? Turn family game night into a dance party extravaganza. OR ORRRR you can play chase with your luver partner-wink wink😏

- The Joy of Juggling: Life is a circus, so why not embrace it? Juggle your responsibilities like a pro and remember that sometimes, just showing up is half the battle. Even if your workout consists of five minutes of jumping jacks in the kitchen while dinner cooks, it's still something!


Making things fun and laughing while you're doing it is ALWAYS the Best Medicine...

When it comes to fitness, we all face challenges, but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun along the way. So, the next time you find yourself struggling to stay motivated, remember to laugh it off, get creative, and keep pushing forward—one chuckle fart and squat at a time.


After all, life's too short not to enjoy the journey, even if it means tripping over a few hurdles along the way....or farting along the way☺️☺️☺️
