Your guide to developing more self love

Ah, self-love. It’s like trying to catch a greased pig in a muddy field – slippery, messy, and often downright elusive. We all know it’s essential, like eating your greens or flossing, but how on earth do you develop more self love without feeling like you’re auditioning for a self-help infomercial?

Well, my little boo boos, I come bearing gifts of tips and tricks (good tricks not the ones where I sneak up behind you and scare the shit out of you!😈) to help you develop more self-love. So grab a cup of your favorite beverage, cozy up, and prepare to embark on a journey of self-discovery that is enlightening.

1. Embrace Your Inner Weirdo:

Let’s face it – we’re all a little bit weird. Whether you love dressing up your cat and pretending she is the queen of Sheeba or dressing up your dog in a cowboy outfit pretending you two are in an old time western. Embracing your quirks is the first step towards loving yourself unconditionally. Trust me because I'm a self appointed Queen of the quirks🤨 Hmmm sounds better in my head...wait, I'm basically writing from my head...weird.

2. Treat Yo’self:

Sure, indulging in a pint of triple chocolate fudge ice cream or splurging on that designer handbag might give you a fleeting sense of pleasure, but true self-love goes beyond material possessions. Treat Yo'Self!!! with kindness and compassion, whether it’s by taking a leisurely stroll in nature, indulging in a bubble bath marathon, or simply giving yourself permission to binge-watch your favorite guilty pleasure TV show without judgment.

3. Ditch the Comparison Trap:

Oh snap!🫰🏼, the comparison trap (ya, I'm a poet and knew it?)– that F'n black hole of self-doubt and insecurity. UGH! Remember, the only person you should be comparing yourself to is the person you were yesterday...and even that, I would insist to not do. Yesterday's you was different than today's you. Instead of fixating on what others have or haven’t achieved, focus on your own journey and celebrate your progress, no matter how small. And if all else fails, just remember that everyone looks ridiculous trying to eat a cupcake without getting frosting on their nose. sph😏

4. Practice Gratitude (Even for the Small Stuff):

In a world that’s constantly bombarding us with images of perfection and success, it’s easy to lose sight of the little things that bring us joy. Take a moment each day to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, whether it’s by jotting down three things you’re thankful for or simply pausing to savor that first sip of morning coffee.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive Vibes:

They say you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with, so choose your tribe wisely. Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you, who celebrate your victories and commiserate with you over your defeats. And if you find yourself in need of a little extra positivity, just remember that there are over 7 billion people in the world, which means statistically speaking, at least a few of them have to like your taste in music. Or your many many many cats🤨🤨🤨

So there you have it, Boo Boos – a fantastical guide to developing more self-love Remember, developing a healthy sense of self-love is a journey, not a destination, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you stumble along the way. After all, as the old saying goes, life is too short to take seriously – so why so serious--said in my awful impersonation of Heath Ledger as the Joker🤨
